it wasn't my dad who
took me out and tossed a ball.
it wasn't my own brother
who pushed me on the swings.
it was my unblood brother,
born of 2 different parents,
who taught me how to punch.
he stood by me while i got smashing drunk
because a boy had shattered my heart.
he gave me the bag of candy
when PMS kicked in and
watched the chick flick while
i cried.
he gave me a hug
when i was down,
handed me cold drugs before
i coughed up my lungs.
there was nothing more,
no matter the whispers.
it was a love better
than a relationship.
it was pure sibling love,
between the unblooded.

April 19, 2011 Update
Hi followers! So just an update on how the blog is doing and why there haven't been too many new posts recently. I'm in my final three weeks of the end of the most amazing college year ever! With this comes a ton of work and stress. I also was given the position of head news editor at my college paper so busyness really has settled in! I'm hoping to get more poetry up by or beginning on May 10th when finals are over.
Also, exciting news! I will be taking a poetry class with one of my favorite professors this coming fall so there will be lots of new content and new revisions going on beginning in the end of August! I can't wait! Thank you all for being patient. I'm hoping to get more to you soon.
Thanks again.
Your lovely blogger,
Kaitlyn

Just Want To
I just want to
feel your lips grazing my neck
like a spring breeze rushing over the meadow
or them pressing into mine
like the world will never be the same.
I just want to
be embraced in your arms
with heat radiating through your t shirt
like the healing sun dissolving into my flesh
warming the soul hidden underneath.
I just want to
hold you in my arms
and sit and listen to your heart beat
and with every thump and breathe
rising and falling with the tempo of life.
I just want
you
to be mine.
feel your lips grazing my neck
like a spring breeze rushing over the meadow
or them pressing into mine
like the world will never be the same.
I just want to

warming the soul hidden underneath.
I just want to

and sit and listen to your heart beat
and with every thump and breathe
rising and falling with the tempo of life.
I just want
you
to be mine.

Drum Roll Please
Plug in the cords,
String up the bass,
Set that tempo,
But a drum roll please.
Gather the groupies,
Scribble down lyrics,
Amp up the amps,
But a drum roll please.
Light the stage,
Aim the spotlights,
Sit the crowd,
but please, oh please, give that drum a roll.
String up the bass,
Set that tempo,
But a drum roll please.
Gather the groupies,
Scribble down lyrics,
Amp up the amps,
But a drum roll please.
Light the stage,
Aim the spotlights,
Sit the crowd,
but please, oh please, give that drum a roll.
