Forgot to be You

You've spent life, learning to live in Rome,

going by everything you've been told,

walking by the book, walking by the talk,

but you forgot to breathe.

You forgot that inside is a seed of you,

that cannot be determined by the chapters

or by anyone trying to tell you how to live,

you forgot how to be you.

You spent too long learning to live in Rome,

you've lost things in life, lost chances, lost hope,

lost love because you went by the authority,

you forgot to live life to the fullest.

The glass was full, but now it's empty

and life is passing you by at the speed of a racing

train. I don't live in Rome. I don't try to live in Rome,

because my path isn't on the normal paved road in Rome.
